"... keeping it pristine for generations to come"

Play your part

As a family business that has consisted of 5 generations living and working at Skytrek Willow Springs Station we ask that our visitors play their role in assisting us to keep the environment, community and industry viable by minimising their footprint and promoting sustainable practices.

You can help by practicing some of the following during your time on our property and in the region:
  • Turn off all lights and unnecessary appliances when not in use.
Our accommodation is designed with the natural elements in mind, so when possible:
    • Open the curtains and allow the sunshine in for natural light
    • Open your door/window and close the screen to allow for natural airflow throughout the room
    • Use the provided pedestal fans instead of the air-conditioner when the weather is suffice
  • Save your food scraps in our purposely provided 'scrap bins,' or alternatively feel free to feed the chickens on site during your stay - please remember to leave gates as you find them. Note: Chickens are not allowed to eat egg shells or tea bags.
  • Stick to marked tracks and do not drive off designated roads. Every track increases erosion and may impact native plants struggling to survive in our harsh environment
  • Take photos, leave only memories
  • Segregate waste and recycling in the provided bins
  • Use our offline-capable guidebook to research what attractions or suggested itineraries are worth undertaking during your stay - this reduces the amount of paper waste from brochures, maps, etc
  • Pump up tyres to correct PSI - if unsure feel free to ask one of our friendly staff for recommended pressures. Under-filled tyres can increase fuel consumption and raise GHG emissions by 10%
  • Do not collect wood. Our birds and reptiles rely on dry wood for their habitats
  • Be conscious of water use - try to reduce shower time, use less water for washing dishes, etc.
  • Leave gates as you find. Pastoralists purposely open/shut gates to manage where stock are grazing and accessing water
  • Buy local. Each item purchased locally supports our region's economic value
  • Value add to your experience. Take the tour, enjoy the attraction, spoil yourself at the cafe - each value add to your experience increases our local revenue and creates jobs. Your purchase keeps us open and promotes rural living.
  • Take your waste with you. Particularly when travelling along our 4WD track, remember to take your waste with you and place it in the provided bins upon your return
  • Use reusable water bottles and food containers to reduce single-use plastics
  • Use designated fire-rings - don't make your own
  • Walk/Carpool when visiting the Amenities or Camp Kitchen
  • Reduce usage of generators whilst camping
  • Use toilet facilities made available for your convenience including Public Toilets in townships, Long Drops at campsites or along 4WD tracks and Porta-Loo toilets at campsites to reduce waste in our natural environment
  • Avoid travel at night. Our region has a high population of wildlife and travelling at night increases your chance of wildlife related accidents
