What an absolutely fantastic day out, $60 -bargain! We saw some amazing sights, emu's chasing our car, kangaroo's fighting (plenty of roo's), lizards, bearded dragons and of course brilliant 4WD tracks, billabongs and sooo much more! Thank you for sharing your amazing property. Linda & Fraser Sutton, Adelaide, Australia

What a place! What an experience! This place is awesome. We are a party of 8 from the Barossa. We loved the accommodation - huge spacious rooms and a very well equipped kitchen. We had an absolute ball around the fire pit and cooking our meals. So many showers that even with 8 of us we all got through quickly and were on our way. Skytrek - this was some of our first 4WD driven experience and we loved it. The scenery is spectacular and the second half was 'hard core'! It will be talked about for some time. We will recommend this lovely property to our friends. Thankyou so much. The Mt McKenzie Tennis Club, Barossa, Australia

We have loved staying in the Overseers Cottage. Such a beautiful, peaceful station. Our second day we just enjoyed being here and loved the 12km circular walk, the map and points of interest were great and the walk itself varied and beautiful at every turn. Thanks for all the help, information, warm welcome, etc. Really hope to be back again one day. Barbara, Leesa & Pip Milroy, Adelaide, Australia

It was so good last year we thought we had better come back and do it again, only this time there were more of us!!! 6 adults and 11 children all descended on camp Grasswren about 5:30pm and it was straight into a speedy set up using every bit of light remaining. Did I say we had 11 children in tow? Hard to believe when it comes to set up and pack up times! With the campers organised and the fire burning it was time for the fun and relaxing to begin!!! Beautiful nights, but always an awesome place to be. Camping is what its called but if the food we eat is any indication glamping is more like it! With a menu of chicken burgers, yiros and tonight spicy lamb casserole, butter chicken and spaghetti Bolognese heated and served at the camp kitchen, what's better than that? And a hot shower to shine us all up just completes the package. As always the Skytrek 4WD journey provides great scenery and gets the adrenaline pumping at times. Wilpena Pound never disappoints with breathtaking scenery and opportunity to stretch your legs with a casual stroll or more strenuous climb. The recent rains have made the nearby gorges a wonderous sight and that's where we are headed tomorrow. Loving the kids being out in the fresh air, frolicking up and over the hills, making creek crossings with rocks and simply climbing the trees. Technology? No Way!!! Friends, laughter and good times, what more could you ask for, and what wonderful memories for everyone! Thanks again Willow Springs. See you next year. A truly picturesque and welcoming place. A centre to explore many magnificent wonders of gods creation. Thankyou for sharing your home in the land of the Flinders Ranges. Can't thank you enough for your 'kitchen,' much, much more than a 'camp one' especially as the fridge in our brand new very expensive van died!! 3 days of luxury prior to surviving on ice. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property and its surrounds is beautiful - lovely days and clear nights meant we certainly made the most of our stay. We enjoyed Skytrek - yes you do need the whole day and ventured up to watch the sunset at Stokes Hill and weren't disappointed. Brendan and Carmel went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and we had all the info on what to see and do. We stayed as a family with some camping and others in the cottage and the value for money for both was great! We will highly recommend! Thank you so much! The Heatons & Penfolds, Canberra, Australia

What a great 4 night stay we've had. Guided Skytrek 4WD Tour was a real highlight. We felt very safe in Michelle's hands and her general knowledge of all things local fauna and flora together with her experience of station life, knowledge of local history and understanding of and sensitivity to Aboriginal concerns was very helpful. We enjoyed walking in Wilpena Pound. If you do the Yacca Lookout Trail on this station, don't miss the left turn a the solar panels between points 5 & 6 (guess who did and ended up at the dump!). Our VW Golf managed the Bunyeroo Gorge road but we had to turn back from a flooded part of the Brachina Gorge road. Loved the peace and quiet. Would love to return. How's the serenity! Loved it. Thankyou so much. Peter & Lynn Moss, Adelaide, South Australia

Willow Springs a comfortable and convenient base for the area. We were able to do St Mary's Peak, the round trip, comfortably in a day (starting early). A fabulous walk!! We watched an emu having a mudbath which was pretty funny and perhaps a rare treat for him/her. The country looks spectacular after some rain. It was interesting to read about the history of the property and of pastoralism in the area - thanks for providing this information. Anonymous, Australia

This is our 4th and final night. Fantastic cottage with everything to make an enjoyable stay. Very relaxing reading a novel on the verandah in the afternoon sun with a coffee and/or wine at hand. Rainy the 2st couple of days but that didn't stop us getting out and about. Today was glorious with clear skies which was ideal to drive Skytrek. Hope to be back sometime in the near future. Day 1: Arrival at 5:30pm. The sun was setting, the stars were starting to appear! Kanagaroo's everywhere, beautiful oranges, reds, yellows radiating towards our overseers cottage! One word - GORGEOUS! Once unpacked, signal was the priority to let the family know of our safe arrival. Lovely evening photos taken and slow driving to avoid all the kangaroos! Great steak and garlic bread cooked on the Overseers BBQ. Delicious. To complete our evening, astronomy photos and a bottle of red. Comfy bed, heated room and hot shower = COMPLETE! Day 2: Cold, raining: Sleep in. With the curtains open the view from the bed was lovely. We took a drive to Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley Station and stopped at a few spots on the way. The weather was sunny one minute then raining, but we managed to capture some great pics. Drove up to Stokes lookout at 5pm for sunset and waited until 7pm. Amongst the dark rainy clouds we got some great shots from in the car to avoid the strong icy winds. Day 3: Drove to do the Bunyeroo gorge, low cloud cover but gorgeous. Went through up to Blinman to stop for lunch. Came back past Wilkawillina Gorge. Last night o be on Stokes hill and luckily the clouds spread and we go our last photos. Day 4: Early departure! We will definitely come back to Willow Springs, after discovering the surrounding areas this is the spot to feel like you are in the heart of the ranges. Will be recommending to everyone! Arrived Saturday 4th July and set ourselves up a the Corella Campsite. Kids set about exploring the creek beds and climbing the hills almost immediately. Banged in a few pegs, rolled out the swags and stoked the fire and we were 'good to go.' Fantastic campsite (with the added bonus of firewood - thanks so much to Chris). Headed down the Skytrek and took in the beautiful scenery up to Moxans Hut. What a wonderful day enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Stokes Hill Lookout watching the sunset accompanied by a few nibbles provided yet another beautiful experience, even though it was FREEZING! Monday 6th we ventured back to Wilpena and conquered a 2 1/2 hour stroll into the Homestead and up to the lookout. Next it was on tot eh original Wilpena Homestead and then back to camp to load up. Next stop the wonderful camp kitchen and warm showers. Wow! Thanks very much. Tomorrow it's off to the Blinman Mine and maybe another hike? So much to do and see, but a fantastic base to do it from. Thanks very much. Dwayne Pratt, Peta Redpath, Jack, Mackenzie, Rileigh & Lucas, Australia

Have been at Willow Springs last year and enjoyed it. Skytrek excellent. As usual accommodation kept in excellent condition and very clean, more clean than accommodation in city. Overseers cottage excellent for my daughter and myself. Stayed at Jackeroo Cottage last year, again the same. Till next year keep up the good work. |

Our two families of grandparents & grandchildren have had an excellent stay. A highlight today was the Reedy Creek walk recommended by Carmel & loved by all 5 of us. We fell in love with the Flinders Ranges again after an absence of 15 years or so and know we will be back again the near 2 years. A magic place so close to our home in Adelaide. We arrived at Jackaroo's Cottage after a day of riding through drizzle and muddy tracks on the Flinders Ranges by Bike route. We were amazed at how drizzle can really mess up the roads! Anyway, what a fantastic place to end a long, wet day. We soon had the fire roaring, dirty bikes hose down, wet clothes in the washing machine and dinner cooking. The rain cleared the next day so we got to experience Skytrek - and what a great experience it was! So many different landscapes and the awesome views at the end made the rugged uphills worthwhile. Thankyou Carmel and Brendan for sharing your lovely homestead, it is a magical place. Thankyou also for your assistance in confirming the next leg of our bike riding trip to Blinman and the weather updates. We certainly hope to return. Gavin, Bridgette, Rebecca & Laura, Tasmania

Another wonderful trip to the Flinders Ranges & Willow Springs. This has become a 20 year old tradition with a group of wonderful family & friends and we all find that it 'grounds' us and 're-earths' us for another year in the 'big smoke.' Here is to many more trips back to one of our fav places. The Waller family and friends, Australia
